Meet Mike May
Who is Mike May and where did his passion come from?
My first computer was a Commodore 64 and I was mesmerized from the moment it turned on and seeing what was displayed on the screen. I spent countless hours wondering how it worked and how I could change what was on the screen. From that moment forward, I began a journey to self-teach myself art and computers.
To help with my journey I started taking art classes and participated in art competitions in school. Some of my achievements include: winning 1st place in a High School level art competition for my submission called “Prism-Color Oceanography” as a 5th grader. I took classes in advanced art and computers to study animation in the 6th and 7th grades, and as a Senior I took 3 computer classes with 2 classes that were college accredited for computer science.
Two companies I credit for my success today that helped me get started are Westwood Studios and 3V Media. While employed with Westwood Studios as a Quality Assurance professional for the critically acclaimed Command and Conquer series, I had the opportunity to learn the proper work flow of how video games were created and what went into the marketing aspect of a game from the ground up from how the teams worked and the process of creating a video game.
After leaving Westwood, I joined the United States Marine Corps and was taught discipline, team and focus. After the service, I began my professional career of Web Design and Front-End Designer and multiple of companies. I created and maintained over 100+ websites which involved the creation of new content to video creation.
Finding a spot at 3V Media, it taught me the next level of video editing from professional video content to distribution. I’ve been credited with over 14+ hours of film and color correction credits. Originally being hired for my video production and editing abilities, I offered my services to build and maintain the company website which then lead to developing additional websites for while managing multiple projects including the Water Works Industry Solution, UFC, Ultimate Fighter Series for Spike TV and various client prototype projects. In the end of this journey, the team and I completed a massive training and education series for the water works industry titled “Water Works Industry Solutions” which was a 33 DVD lesson set which could be used for a water works contractor/employee that could watch the series and take tests to earn CEU credits for their United States license each year to remain as a contractor for the industry.
I’ve worked with numerous entertainers from around the world including world champion kick boxers, boxers, music artists and actors. To date, I’ve created over 500+ custom videos for multitude of different industries for both the Internet and for offline product materials. I’ve created and managed over 1000’s of print and marketing projects including trade show booths, print ads for magazines to social campaigns for social media.
Thank you for taking the time to read through this overview.
